Event Filmmaker Education

This past Tuesday evening I had the pleasure of giving a presentation on DSLR filmmaking to the Connecticut Professional Videographers Association. This coming Monday I'll be doing the same at the New England Videographers Association (NPVA) meeting in Dedham, MA. I'll be talking about many ways to make the most out of your camera equipment as well as some of the things we do to enhance the experience our couples have when they select us to film their wedding.

There are groups like this in most major markets throughout the country, and as a current member of the NPVA I have found it incredibly helpful to share experiences and learn from other great event filmmakers in the area. If you are trying to get your feet wet in the industry or even if you are a seasoned pro, the resources these organizations offer are incredibly value, and the meetings are a lot of fun too!

Bethany + Melvinn | Butler's Courtyard - League City, TX

February brought us to Texas where Amanda, Johnathan and I filmed Bethany + Melvinn's beautiful wedding at Butler's Courtyard. There were just a few sprinkles for good luck right before their ceremony but they had a perfect 72 degree winter day with a beautiful outdoor ceremony and an incredible brunch to follow! Coincidentally they will be living together in nearby Rhode Island, just a short ride from the location of our most recent wedding (check out the previous post!).

We really enjoyed being part of Bethany and Melvinn's big day - they were so much fun and Butler's Courtyard was a really great venue to capture. This was a same day edit with a little extra added in at the end. We just couldn't possibly leave out their grande exit in a 1960 Bentley!

Brittany + Roy | The Biltmore - Providence [SDE]

We had an awesome time filming Brittany + Roy's wedding Saturday at The Biltmore in Providence. I lived in Providence for a couple years but had never been in The Biltmore - which has been an icon in the city since the roaring 20s.

Brittany + Roy had not only an incredible venue for their wedding but an incredible team of vendors. Revelation Productions did a phenomenal job with the lighting and music, and they busted out the turntables for this one. The Biltmore's ballroom is incredible but as you'll see the lighting really takes the ambiance to a whole new level.

The wedding day experience for the bride and groom goes well beyond the ceremony and reception. For Brittany + Roy we were able to capture some earlier parts of the day that you may not see in a typical wedding video, but I think it certainly helps to capture who they are and the experience of their day.

Award Winning Wedding Films

We have been incredibly busy all winter and have a lot of exciting things to share here soon! I've spent much of the past two months racking up frequent flier miles traveling throughout the country as part of an extensive corporate project capturing some amazing stories about heart recovery.

Last night was the annual NPVA (New England Videographers Association) Vista award ceremony. We are honored to have received the Silver award for Best Wedding Film with Kate + Chris's feature film and the Gold award for Best Highlights Film with Christina + Mike's same day edit. Many thanks to Mike Murray and Kurt Munzner who joined me for Kate + Chris's awesome day on that cold winter day last year, and also to Konrad Czystowski and Mark Klassen who made quite a journey from Canada to put their awesomeness into Christina + Mike's wedding last November. It is really inspiring to me to work with such incredible people and I'm so excited for what we have in store for the rest of 2011!

We were also recognized with the 2011 WeddingWire Bride's Choice Award as well as "Best of theknot" for 2011. The great thing about this type of recognition is that is based off how our couples review us after they work with us. Many thanks to all of our awesome 2010 couples and we are very lucky and excited to be busy with so many awesome couples in the near future!
